Research has always been an important focus in DSR as many at DSR have a research background. However, besides a strong interest in basic research there is always the drive to be able to turn research results into real-world solutions.
Neural networks have been applied to speech- as well as handwriting recognition. This patented technology, known as ratio-coding, is described in more detail in a paper available in .pdf format from the Papers Section.

Dynamical Systems Research is the main sponsor and co-organizer of the HELNET (Helsinki Neural Network) international workshop on neural networks that is primarily targetted towards young researchers.
