| Dynamical Systems Research Ltd. (DSR) is
a London based software and systems development company specializing in telecommunications
systems and mobile computing. Established in 1993, it has become a leader and pioneer in
mobile messaging and data systems. DSR is led
by Dr Janko Mrsic-Flogel, Managing Director, and Lee McLoughlin, Technical Director, both
of whom hold positions at London's Imperial College and each with many years experience in
advanced computing, Internet and mobile telecommunications.
The company provides research, development and consulting
services to blue chip clients in the UK and overseas. DSR is currently helping its clients
to develop client/server mobile solutions, communications interfaces and software
applications for mobile computing and telecommunications for the next millennium.
Over the past five years, DSR has provided technology and
services to companies and organizations including Celt, Orange, Ericsson, JFAX, Hyundai,
Daewoo, Legal & General, the National Health Service and Irish and Swedish government
agencies. It has been a registered Psion developer since 1993.
Bridging the gap between mobile networks and email
SMSGateTM is a versatile modular
client/server system which integrates data, fax and Internet email with GSM and PCN
messaging systems, enabling users at last to take advantage of the existing short message
(SMS) facilities available on digital mobile phones.
DSR has based its AirmailTM suite on the
SMSgate technology to integrate data, fax and Internet email with GSM and PCN messaging
systems. Airmail bridges the gap between the mobile phone networks and Internet email,
allowing messages to be sent between the two communications media most used by people on
the move. Thus, users can use their mobile to send and receive email to or from anywhere
in the world via the Internet. Before the launch of Airmail , the only way to keep in
touch electronically whilst on the move has meant using a portable computer, modem and
software.
AirmailTM is a subscription service that
enables users of any ordinary digital mobile phone to send and receive Internet email via
SMS (Short Message Service). Messages can be sent within and between networks without the
need for any additional hardware or software - all you need is your phone!
Airmail ProTM, the most recent addition to
the Airmail suite, enables any email user to send a message direct to any mobile phone
with SMS capability - without needing to invest in extra software or hardware. Airmail Pro
subscribers can access all the big four UK networks and overseas providers, efficiently
and cost-effectively.
London In The Palm Of Your Hand
Spring 1998 sees the launch of DSR's London AccessTM
for palm-top computers. Using mapping data supplied by Nicholson, the UK's leading map
publisher, London Access provides accurate visual maps of the UK's capital city. By
selecting any London street you can access a wealth of information including the nearest
tube stations, best routes, and local attractions. The software has been carefully
programmed by DSR to take maximum advantage of the easy to use nature of Windows CE. Other
planned Windows CE releases include a CE Web Server intended for Web-based data collection
applications, an SMS (Short Message Service) application and a Secure Shell (SSH) client
for CE.
WAP Software Development
Dynamical Systems Research has been involved in developing
WAP applications and WAP related software from the onset of WAP when it developed the
first live WAP application for Ericsson which was shown at TelecomAsia in June 1998. Since
then DSR has developed a various WAP demonstration and trial services. In October 1998 DSR
released the first publicly available WAP software, the WAP Developer Toolkit, a
comprehensive set of WAP developer software tools that include a WAP browser with full
WMLScript support, WMLScript Compiler, WML Encoder/Decoder, source code examples en full
documentation and language reference guides. All tools are completely written in Java.
Source code of DSR's WAP software components have been licensed to a number of blue chip
companies and members of the WAP Forum.
